Amanda Aug. 17. 2008 Turkish Dance:
The class of rhythms in 9/8 meter are among the most beloved rhythms in Turkish dance, in all its forms. Therefore, this class will explore 9/8 rhythms for Turkish-style Oriental dance, including karşılama and ağır Roman rhythms, as well as the Turkish-Armenian folk dance Tamzara. Amanda will introduce basic steps for these styles, as well as some variations and a few less-common steps, and incorporate them into a short choreography.
